Canesten Gyno

What is Canesten Gyno?

Canesten Gyno contains the active ingredient clotrimazole, which is an antifungal medicine used to treat infections with fungi and yeasts. Canesten Gyno products have been specially designed for vaginal use and are prescribed for vaginal fungal infections. Canesten Gyno is a prescription-only medicine.

What is Canesten Gyno used for?

Vaginal fungal infections are a common and troubling nuisance for many women. A vaginal fungal infection is characterised by an increase of white discharge from the vagina and redness, irritation and itching in the vagina/labia area. The infection is caused by species of fungi, in particular Candida albicans, that occur on the skin. Imbalance in the vaginal flora can allow these organisms to gain the upper hand. Canesten Gyno kills the fungi and yeasts and, by doing so, is effective in taking away the symptoms.

How to use Canesten Gyno

Canesten Gyno is available as vaginal tablet or cream. The tablets and cream should be inserted into the vagina using the applicator provided. Apply at bedtime to allow the medicine to act whilst you sleep. Consult the package leaflet for instructions on how to use the applicator. The cream can also be applied to the outside of the vagina (vulva and labia) to help provide relief from the external symptoms of the infection such as pain and itching. Do not use Canesten Gyno when you are having your period as it will be less effective.

Note: Do not rely on condoms or cervical caps when using Canesten Gyno. Clotrimazole may weaken the rubber up to two days after use, causing them to break.
